A group of individuals from Vicarage Lodge recently took a trip to London to experience all the fun
and fanfare of The Colonel’s Review – the official rehearsal of the Trooping the Colour.
This wonderful military parade proved a great spectacle, with the individuals and staff enjoying the
display of military regalia and horses during the parade, from their front row seats.
Over 1400 officers and men were on parade, together with two hundred horses, and over four
hundred musicians from ten bands and corps of drums, all marching and playing as one.
The groups overnight stay also included some city sightseeing – taking in Downing Street, Big Ben
and Westminster, before using the underground to get back to King’s Cross. Another highlight of the
trip was the journey home- with the discovery at the train station that all the wheelchair spaces in
standard class had already been filled, the train manager upgraded the group to travel first class!
